‘Shutter Island’ wins US weekend boxoffice

Martin Scorsese’s “Shutter Island” starring Leonardo DiCaprio is expected to top the U.S. weekend cinema box-office. The R-rated suspense thriller is anticipated to earn in the region of $US40.2 million, whilst the romantic comedy “Valentine’s Day” took an estimated $US17.2 million, followed by “Avatar” with $US16.1 million. 4th was ‘Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief’ and 5th was ‘The Wolfman’

Leonardo DiCaprio re-teams with legendary director Martin Scorsese for the thriller ‘Shutter Island,’ in this look behind the scenes.In the movie, Leo and Mark Ruffalo play a federal marshals searching for an escaped patient from a hospital for the criminally insane.
“There’s no way she could have possibly escaped this island,” explains Leo. “She would have to go through thick, dense forests and climb down jagged rocks, to swim miles and miles to shore — and it seems like there’s some sort of conspiracy going on.”
‘Shutter Island’ marks Leo and Scorsese’s fourth film together, and the Oscar-winning director says, “I immediately agreed he should do it, because I knew by this point we have a way of working together now.”
Helping run the eerie facility is Sir Ben Kingsley, and he says he’s also thrilled to work with Scorsese, saying, “He is inexhaustible, profoundly gifted, and I’m very privileged to be working with him.”
