Bret Michaels Hospitalized After Warning Stroke
The Poison frontman’s Bret Michaels has suffered what doctors call a “warning stroke” and been diagnosed with a hole in the heart.
On April 12, 2010, Michaels was rushed to the hospital after suffering intense stomach pains, and an emergency appendectomy was performed, then ten days later he was again rushed to the hospital, this time with an “excruciating” headache. Doctors discovered that he had suffered a massive and potentially fatal brain (subarachnoid) haemorrhage.
Michaels is best known as the lead vocalist of the glam metal band Poison, though also has several solo albums to his credit, as well as one chart single. He starred in the VH1 reality show “Rock of Love with Bret Michaels” and its sequels, and as a judge on the talent show Nashville Star. He is a contestant on NBC’s reality show Celebrity Apprentice 3 and was expected to appear at Sunday’s live finale of in New York.
It is not immediately clear if he will be well enough to attend.
Meanwhile the 47-year-old’s heart condition is operable but for now will receive blood thinners and outpatient treatment.
