Revisiting The Popular ‘Tom Cruise’ of Old

Featured, Movies — By ken on June 1, 2010 at 2:51 pm

To a detached observer, it seem like Tom Cruise’s career has been on a bit of a roller-coaster ride through incredible fame and popularity to religious/cult controversy and now back to the magnetic public persona and smile he is most fondly remembered for.

In recent times he has come under considerable flack for his Scientology beliefs, resulting in no end of bad press and the odd parody, as this satirical twisting of Tom’s words tells…

On August 22, 2006, Paramount Pictures announced it was ending its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise and his business partner Paula Wagner. In the Wall Street Journal, chairman of Viacom (Paramount’s parent company) Sumner Redstone cited the economic damage to Cruise’s value as an actor and producer from his controversial public behaviour and views.

Today it seems Tom Cruise is back to the charming form of old, which made him a super-star with three Academy Award nominations and three Golden Globe Awards.

In 2008, Tom Cruise appeared in the hit action comedy “Tropic Thunder” with Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. and Nick Nolte. This performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination for his role as the foul-mouthed media mogul Les Grossman.

Now Cruise has reprised this hilarious Tropic Thunder character for a series of MTV Movie Awards promos to advertise the broadcast on June 6, 2010.

In the first promo, Len Grossman belittles Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson and tells him not to scrub up too well for Sunday’s bash, saying: “Your filthy hair made you a star, made me millions of dollars and sent my fat-ass kid to space camp four times.”

In the second promo, Len Grossman instructs Tom Cruise on the finer points of stardom during the making of “Risky Business”, his first leading role in 1982.

In March 2010, Cruise completed filming the action-comedy Knight and Day, in which he re-teams with former co-star Cameron Diaz, scheduled for release on July 2, 2010. On February 9, 2010, Cruise confirmed that he will star in a third Mission:Impossible sequel, slated for release on Memorial Day weekend 2011.

It appears my preferred thesbian Tom Cruise is up to his old tricks again. He’s a new picture coming out with Cameron Diaz and it looks like it’s going to be a fantastic a single, I just genuinely enjoy Tom Cruise movies, I believe he’s genuinely beneficial at these kinds of action films. This latest picture is an action-comedy based on a fugitive couple on a thrilling and sometimes deadly adventure where nothing and no 1 – even themselves – are what they tend to be. Amongst changing alliances and surprising betrayals, they race across the world, with their survival ultimately depending on the battle of truth versus trust- I can’t wait for this to come out.
